Year 6 enjoyed learning self-defence in our first of 3 Ju-Jitsu sessions.
Literacy week
Well done to the Year 6 children who were abke to fight through the snow in their fantastic costumes! The range of amazibg characters was amazing as usual. Many thanks to Michael Carvill who visited before training with Crusaders FC to read with our class.
Grove library
A big thanks to the staff at Grove Library who welcomed us into our local library for Literacy Week. Many of our class already visit the library regularly and make use of the fantastic selection of books they have available.
Science show
Thank you to Sentinus and St Malachy's College for facilitating a talk by an astrophysicist! The children loved moving through space and learning about all the planets and stars (as well as setting things on fire).
Police visit
Year 6 enjoyed a visit from the police who were helping us stay safe outside of school. They taught us all about the dangers of drugs in the area as well as cigarettes and alcohol.
New year, new me!
Lots of the children in Y6F have decided that this year they are going to try and be much more healthy. The children have already been bringing in healthy break and today attended a visit from Cancer Focus who taught us how to avoid the unhealthy temptations in life and combat addiction!

Sport changes lives
This morning we had a visit from Victory Scholars who told us all about the very exciting Belfast Classic basketball tournament taking place at the SSE Arena this weekend.
Young enterprise
Today the year 6 pupils had a visit from Young Enterprise, who showed us how products are imported and exported around the world!
Tharp Family visit
Earthquake!!
This half term we gave been studying our new tooic, Fragile Earth. We have already come uo with some suoer facts about earthquakes and volcanoes. Today we made earthquake-proof buildings and tested them on a ground made of jelly!
Badminton
Our badminton lesson today was interrupted by the people at Sport NI as they wished to present our coach with the Northern Ireland Young Coach of the Year award! All of Y6F would like to congratulate Ciaran on his well earned award. Well done!
To infinty..
Today Year 6 have been learning how we can mix ingredients to create different reactions. By mixing only two ingredients, we were able to cause a reaction big enough to send our capsule into the air! The children loved investigating what would happen if we changed the weight of the capsule or amount of each ingredient. If you're reading this, Houston, you might want to employ a few of our scientists!
Brilliant Badminton
In Year 6 we are lucky to have access to a range of fantastic sports coached by some of the best coaches around. This term is no exception as we are being taught badminton by Ciaran Chambers, a player aiming for the Commonwealth Games! He may have some competition closer to home in the future as some of our Seaview Stars have shown great promise after only a couple of sessions!
European Language day
Well done to the winner of our European Language Day costume competition! A mightily difficult choice as there were so many great costumes in 6F from Spanish chicas to our Romanian flag. A big well done to all who dressed up and embraced the day.
Extreme Reading
Well done to the winner of our reading competition! This winning girl selected a fantastic book to take home as her prize.
an edible solar system?!
This term in Year 6F we have been exploring Space! We have loved learning facts about our world and all that surrounds it. Today, we used a selection of different fruits to represent the size difference of the planets before taking them into the corridor and seeing just how far apart they really were!
